Observers

Observations

In the VQB5 system, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), observers conduct observations in early childhood classrooms to assess the quality of educator-child interactions.

CLASS observers may be leaders in early childhood care and education programs or partners who are vested in early childhood education. Observers are certified as to conduct observations in Infant, Toddler and PreK early childhood classrooms using the CLASS tool.

Observers become certified by attending a two-day observer training and passing a reliability test. Observers maintain reliability in using the CLASS tool through ongoing calibrations, peer/double coding, and annual certifications.

Observers play an integral part in the VQB5 Quality Improvement system by collaborating with educators and providing meaningful and impactful feedback based on the CLASS observations.

Measuring Quality Interactions

Quality Interactions are measured in all VQB5 classrooms using the CLASS tool. Observers play an integral part in the VQB5 Quality Improvement system by collaborating with educators and providing meaningful and impactful feedback based on the CLASS observations.

Trained observers look at all classrooms using a nationally-regarded early childhood observation tool called CLASS™.
