Infant Toddler Specialist Network

Our Regional Support Staff

Foundation First is the North Central regional office for the Virginia Infant & Toddler Specialist Network (ITSN).

ITSN coaches provide services to improve teacher-child interactions and the use of curriculum in eligible VQB5 early childhood care and education classrooms serving children, birth through 36 months. ITSN also provides coaching services for eligible children, birth through 36 months. 

ITSN coaches work in collaboration with Ready Region staff to ensure continuous support for VQB5 programs. 

1. Infant Toddler Specialists

Infant & Toddler Specialists (ITS’) provide coaching, training, and technical assistance, as well as curriculum and classroom environment support to VQB5 programs. ITS’ support educators in creating and maintaining a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for infants and toddlers.

Coaching

A relationship-based process that includes mentoring and supports using quality improvement plans to eligible VQB5 classrooms serving children, birth through 36 months. 

Training

Offered to groups of early childhood educators in VQB5 programs through face-to-face, distance, technology-based or hybrid methods. 

Technical Assistance

Support and resources to help eligible VQB5 early childhood educators achieve excellence in early care for children, birth through 36 months

2. Infant and Toddler Behavior Consultants

Infant & Toddler Behavior Consultants (ITBCs’) provide coaching, mentoring, parental education, training, and technical assistance, as well as conducting child observations and developmental screenings.
