Mixed Delivery Initiative

What is Mixed Delivery?

The Mixed Delivery program is a combined federal and state grant that pays for most or all of a child’s childcare tuition for eligible children aged birth – 5 years at selected childcare programs and family childcare homes.  Children are able to participate in Mixed Delivery and be in the center for the entire day (for example, 7:30am-5:30pm) and through the summer. A family must provide their own transportation to and from the participating childcare center.

Through Mixed Delivery more of Virginia’s littlest learners can experience high quality preschool and childcare and be prepared for success when they enter kindergarten. High quality childcare experiences give young children opportunities to learn and practice important academic and social/emotional skills – like early math, early literacy, and increased independence.
